COVID-19 has had a devastating effect on the health and welfare of individuals as well as on the economies of countries around the world. Some studies suggest that men may be at greater risk for more severe complications from COVID-19 than are women. However, that may change with ethnicity, since observations in the South of the United States suggest that Black women may be a greater risk for mortality from COVID-19 than are Black men.
The Editor and Associate Editors welcome all submissions, original articles or reviews, in animal models or humans in which sex differences in infectious diseases such as COVID-19 are described and potential mechanisms are tested.
All manuscripts will undergo expedited (7 days) peer review, and will be available online on the journal's website.
Manuscripts can be submitted at any time, but to be considered for inclusion in this special collection they must be submitted by December 31, 2020.
